Problem:
You have a list of UniProt Accessions and you want to know what RGD gene IDs are associated with your list.
The List: Q5EGZ1,Q8R0I0,Q27459,Q01314,P47196,P47197,Q63484,P47820
Solution:
The first step is to select the RGD Genes database from the martveiw page.
(Click Here to open Martview in a new window.)
We then click "Filters" from the side bar. This will bring us to our filters page. From here we look for the filter group named "External Database Identifiers". We click the +/- box to expand the group. We then check the box and use
the dropdown list to select UniProt Accessions. We then paste in our list of UniProt Accessions.
We now click "Attributes" from the side bar and go to the attribute page. We expand the "Gene Data" and "UniProt" groups. We then select the
information that we want: Symbol, RGD ID, Name, and UniProt Accession. We then click Results.
Discussion
The External Database Identifiers filter can be used to pull information about your list of genes or proteins.
There are four types of IDs that can be used: RGD, GenBank Accessions, UniProt Accessions, Entrez Gene ID. If you
submit a list it must be homogenous, no mixed identifiers allowed.
One of the nice features of the External Database filter is the browse button. This will allow you to upload an existing
list. The file must be in plain text , but IDs can be either comma seperated or each on a seperate line. This makes it
relatively easy to take the result from one search and plug it into the RGD Mart.
